650 JÄHR TUBELFEST - KAISERSLAUTERN

BACKGROUND: This postcard commemorates the 650th Anniversary of the city of KAISERSLAUTERN, held on 6th Jun 1926. The image on the front of the card depicts a man carrying a red and white flag, the colours of the KAISERSLAUTERN Coat of Arms and flag. The text below the image reads:

"650 jähr. Tubelfest der Stadt | Kaiserslautern 6. Juni 1926 | Groβer hist.Festzug nach m.2 Uhr"

'650 years The city's Tube Festival Kaiserslautern June 6, 1926. Great historical procession after 2 p.m'

The reverse side of the card bears the following inscription in the top left-hand corner:

"18. August 1276 | König Rudolf von Habsburg | verleiht Kaiserslautern | die Reichsfreiheit"

'August 18, 1276 | King Rudolf of Habsburg | gives Kaiserslautern | the freedom of the empire'

Text in the lower left-hand corner reads:

"Herausgegeben von der | Stadtverwaltung Kaiserslautern" - 'Published by the Kaiserslautern city administration'

SONDERSTEMPEL: Although it isn't very clear the card below shows the special handstamp associated with this event.
