BACKGROUND: Brakel, a town in North Rhine-Westphalia celebrated its 1,100th Anniversary in 1929 and the card below was one of several published to commemorate the event. This card features the Medieval Castle Hinnenburg, dating from around 1600. The reverse of the card lists the main events that took place over the 9 days (Saturday 1st to 3rd, 8th and 9th Jun) of the celebration, culminating with 'Big Sporting Events".
