This postcard was issued to commemorate the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of the new HOUSE of GERMAN ART Museum in MUNICH.

This is a historical German postcard commemorating the foundation-stone ceremony (Grundsteinlegung) for the Haus der Deutschen Kunst, also called the "Neuer Glaspalast" (New Glass Palace), in Munich, held on 15th Oct 1933.

The front shows an artist's rendering of the ceremony: a torch-lit dais draped in swastika banners, flanked by crowds, with two braziers sending up smoke. The building depicted was designed by Paul Ludwig Troost and commissioned by Hitler shortly after the Nazi seizure of power; it became the first major monumental building constructed under the Third Reich. Hitler himself laid the cornerstone at this event (during which the ceremonial hammer reportedly broke on the first blow). The building still stands today as the Haus der Kunst, a museum.

The back identifies it as an official Party postcard: "Herausgegeben von der Gauleitung München-Oberbayern der N.S.D.A.P." (issued by the Nazi Party's Munich-Upper Bavaria Gau leadership), printed by Herm. Sonntag & Co., Munich. It's an unused postcard (blank message/address lines), consistent with items sold or distributed around the 1933 ceremony as propaganda/commemorative material.
