BRAUNE HANSA MESSE
BROWN HANSA FAIR
(9th/24th Jun 1934)
This card was issued to commemorate the 1934 Brown Hansa Fair held in Bremen from 9th to 24th Jun 1934.
SONDERSTEMPEL: There was a special handstamp used at the fair inscribed "Braune hansa Messe Frankiert mit Francotyp 9.-24. Juni 1934"
Front (illustration): A stylized lighthouse at sea, likely a stylized rendering of the Roter Sand lighthouse off the Weser estuary near Bremen. Below it, the fair's name in script, the dates, a swastika emblem, and text reading "Bremen-Weserstadion | Das Ereignis Nordwestdeutschlands" ("Bremen-Weser Stadium | the event of Northwest Germany").
The bottom line lists reduced admission pricing: "Fahrpreisermässigung, Eintritt 50g, Erwerbslose, SA, SS, HJ, STA 20g" (fare reduction; entry 50-Rpf, with a discounted 20-Rpf rate for the unemployed and members of the SA, SS, Hitler Youth, and STA). It's signed by the artist "Meyer-Lahusen."
Back: A used postcard, postmarked Bremen, 17th Jun 1934, about halfway through the event, with a red commemorative slogan stamp used during the event (value 6-Rpf, marked "Frankiert mit Francotyp").
