(156th Feb/1st Mar 1936)

BACKGROUND: The card was published to commemorate the Berlin Autoshow held in that city from 15th Feb until 1st Mar 1936.

SONDERSTEMPEL REFERENCE: BOCHMANN Heft Nr 3, Page 103, S 182.

A special handstamp depicting the first motor vehicle built by Carl Benz and inscribed "BERLIN-CHARLOTTENBURG 5 | 1886 - 1936 | 50 Jahre Automobil | Autoschau Berlin 1936" was available from 14.2 until 2.3.1936. There were two versions of this handstamp: with either an 'a' or a 'b' counter.

line The following domestically used example was cancelled at the show on 18.2.1936 and was sent to NÜRNBERG. This example also features the two official postage stamps, Michel 604 and 605, issued to commemorate this show and the 50th Anniversary of the automobile.
