KOLONIAL BRIEFMARKEN SCHAU
COLONIAL POSTAGE STAMP SHOW
(9th/10th Jan 1937)
BACKGROUND: These two postcards were issued to advertise the Colonial Postage Stamp Show in Pankow, Berlin held from 9th to 10th Jan 1937. PP127-C-25 has a pre-printed 6Rpf Hindenburg Medallion stamp, and PP142-C-8 has a 5Rpf Luftpost Airmail stamp.
SPECIAL CANCEL: There was a special cancel used at the show inscribed "BERLIN-PANKOW | Kolonial-Briefmarken-Schau | 9.-10.1.1937" and featuring a colonial soldier in front of a fortified outpost, most likely in Africa.

The first postcard depicts colonial settlers trecking along, silhouetted against the setting African sun.

5Pf LUFTPOST
The second card shows a German ship arriving in a foreign port in one of Germany's lost Pacific islands. This example was favour cancelled at the show.
