MAY DAY
(1st May 1939)

BACKGROUND: 1st May 1939 - There were at least 5 May Day postcards, from various publishers, with a very similar design to these below, printed in 1939.

SPECIAL CANCEL:

VERLAG TH. KÖNIG

Verlag Th. König produced at least two postcards for the 1939 My Day celebrations. The first card, shown below is in landscape format and the second, almost identical card is in portrait format. Neither card had a pre-printed stamp.

VERLAG ALFRED OEMLER

Verlag Alfred Oemler published the two postcards below.

1. The following example was printed by Otto Hoppe Verlag of Berlin.




2. The second example was favour cancelled on May 1st 1939 in Berlin with a regular city/date stamp.
