BACKGROUND:

Issued on 3rd May 1990 to commemorate QUADRONALE LEER '90, a four-country exhibition - held from 2nd to 4th May 1990 in LEER, East Frisia. This card measures 148 x 105mm and was produced on white coloured card. The four countries were probably West Germany, East Germany, The Soviet Union and the Netherlands.

The reverse of the card is blank and 548,000 cards were printed.

SENDERS' SECTION

The left-hand side is the sender's section and contains three dotted lines for the sender's address and the words "Absender", "(Vorwahl)", "(Rufnummer)", "(Straße und Hausnummer oder Postfach)", "Postleitzahl" and "Ort"

In addition to the "LEER '90" banner there are several other lines of texts as folows:

In the anniversary year of "500 Years of the Post Office" and "150 Years of Postage Stamps", the four-country exhibition QUADRONALE LEER '90 and the Philately Forum will take place in Leer. "QUADRONALE" June 2-4, 1990

DESTINATION SECTION

The right-hand or destination section contains four dotted lines for the destination address as well as the words "Postkarte", "(Straße und Hausnummer oder Postfach)", "Postleitzahl" and "Bestimmungsort".

INDICIA STAMP

The pre-printed stamp is a multicoloured Michel 1461, 60 Pf stamp and features the Thurn and Taxis Palace in Frankfurt and was designed by Konrad Przewieslik. The inscription on the stamp reads "EUROPA | Deutsche Bundespost | Palais Thurn und Taxis Frankfurt am Main | 1990"

The next SST features a stage coach delivering the mail and the inscription:

Bonn also issued a special handstamp that is associated with the LEER issue and it bears the following inscription:
