SINDELFINGEN - 1990

BACKGROUND:

Issued on 11th Oct 1990 to commemorate (1) International Postage Stamp Exchange, (2) The International Postal History Days as well as the (3) 2,000th anniversary of SPEYER, held in SINDELFINGEN, approximately 15 kilometers southwest of the state capital Stuttgart, from 26th to 28th Oct 1990. This card measures 148 x 105 mm and was produced on white coloured card.

The reverse of the card is blank and 630,000 cards were printed.

The 1991 Internationale Briefmarkenbörse was also held in SINDELFINGEN but no official commemorative postcard was issued for that event. As such PSo23 is commonly found with a number of SST's used at the 1991 Sindelfingen Postage Stamp Exchange, some of which can be seen below.

SPECIAL CANCELLATIONS:

A number of SST's were used in SINDELFINGEN to commemorate the 1990 Postage Stamp Exchange. When the event was held again in 1991 there was no commemorative postcard issued, however there were a number of 1991 SST's available. Many collectors, knowing that no special postcard was issued, brought along ununsed 1990 PSo23 cards and had them cancelled with the 1991 SST's. You can see some examples of this below.
