POSTCARD 1
1. ARTIST: H. v. MedreyType: II
DESCRIPTION: A german soldier advances with a flamethrower
2. The postally used example below was a FELDPOST usage cancelled in JÜTERBORG-NEUES LAGER (Jüterborg New Camp) on 18th Dec 1941. The Jüterborg Lager was a military training center in operation from 1864 until the summer of 1992. The center was divided into several separate camps: the Old Camp (Altes Lager), the New Camp (Neues Lager), the Adolf Hitler Camp (Adolf Hitler Lager), and the Forst Zinna Forest Camp (Forst Zinna Wald Lager).
3. The following postally used example was cancelled in HERSFELD three months before the war ended on 24th Feb 1945. Hersfeld (now known as Bad Hersfeld), in Hesse, was occupied by U.S. forces in early April 1945, during the final weeks of the war as American troops advanced across central Germany. It fell without major destruction to the town itself, unlike many other German cities that were heavily bombed.
