"SOLDIER'S SHEETS FOR CELEBRATIONS AND LEISURE"
SEP 1942
POSTCARD 2
2. ARTIST: OGefr. H. KarlType: II
DESCRIPTION: Tanks on the attack
1. The following card was a FELDPOST cancel dated 2nd Apr 1943.
2. The example below was a Feldpost usage cancelled in Insmingen (Westm) on 2nd Mar 1943. Westm on the cancellation refers to the Westmark. Insming (German: Insmingen) is a village in Lorraine (Moselle department, France), which the Nazis annexed in 1940 and then folded into Gau Westmark, the party administrative region combining the Saarland, the Bavarian Palatinate, and occupied Lorraine. So this is Lorraine mail routed through the Nazi-administered Gau Westmark postal system.
