THIRD EBERT SERIES
P189 / 22

The third Ebert series of postcards appeared in 1930 and are refered to as P189 in the Michel series. This series comprises a total of 61 different cards. Cards of the third Ebert series differ from the first and second series by:

(1) The picture of the scene is now a photograph rather than a line drawing and
(2) There is a brief description of the scene beneath the photograph
(3) There is still no 'Lernt Deutschland Kennen!' title.

P189 / 22 features the town of Halle.



The inscription below the image reads "Die Moritzburg (Westseite) in Halle,(Saale)" - 'The Moritzburg (west side) in Halle,(Saale)'

1. The example below was an overseas usage from BERLIN to NEUILLY-PLAISANCE in FRANCE on 10th Jul 1930. The pre-printed stamp has been supplemtented by a Michel 444 stamp used to commemorate the victorious WW 1 allies, namely the French, finally leaving the occupied Rhineland. The Type 'A' slogan encourages Germans to use Airmail for faster delivery of their mail.

The message on the reverse side reads "Sehr geehrter Herr Pflughaupt! Im Besitz Ihres werten Schreibens vom 4.7 danke ich Ihnen verbindlichst für die hiermit avisierten, inzwischen eingetroffenen Ganzsachen sowie für das mir gezeigte Entgegenkommen, Mit gleicher Post bitte ich Herrn Schöller, Ihnen für meine Rechnung den Betrag von RM 50. zu vergüten. Mit den besten Sammlergrüssen verbleibe ich, Ihr ergebener."

Dear Mr. Pflughaupt! In possession of your valuable letter of July 4, I sincerely thank you for the postal stationery that I hereby notify you has arrived, as well as for your cooperation. By the same letter, I request Mr. Schöller to reimburse you the sum of RM 50 for my invoice. With best collector's greetings, I remain, yours sincerely.
