FOURTH SERIES
P233 - PRIVATE OVERPRINTS

The fourth Hindenburg series of Get to Know Germany also appeared in mid 1934 and is refered to as P233 in the Michel series. This series is distinquished by the addition of a printer's number in the lower right-hand corner. The number is in the following format XX-XX-X-XX. The first two numbers on the left refer to the year the card was printed (e.g. 34 for 1934), the second two numbers are the series number (e.g. 31), the third number is the plate number (usually '1') and the final two characters are the view number (e.g. B1, B2 etc). All 36 different cards have the 'Lernt Deutschland Kennen!' heading.

KURT HORN - DRESDEN

There were a number of the P233 postcards with private additional overprints from KURT HORN. The destination address on these cards reads "Herrn | Kurt Horn | Dresden-Bad Weiβer Hirsch | Danziger Straβe 20 | Ruf 37651".




ABOVE: P233 34-49-1-B6: This example was cancelled in GROβENHAIN on 28th Sep 1935 and was sent by a Tabacco Merchant Friedrich Alferi of Horst Wessel str.2, Groβenhain i. Sa. The City of Dresden is just under 40 Km to the South of Groβenhain.




ABOVE: P233 34-49-1-B9: The P233 postcard above was cancelled on the LEIPZIG - DOBELN - DRESDEN train on 19th Oct 1935. The card was sent by a Colonial Goods retailer Mr. Robert Otto of Leisnig, Bahnhofstrasse No. 2.




ABOVE: P233 34-50-1-B1: This postally used card was sent from MERANE (SACHSEN) on 15th Nov 1935, a distance of just over 100 Km to the east.




ABOVE: P233 34-50-1-B4: The card above was cancelled in GLAUCHAU 2 on 12th Apr 1936, a distance of 100 Km to the west of DRESDEN
