BACKGROUND:
Following the occupation of the Sudetenland by the German Army in Oct 1938 the Wehrmacht went on to occupy the remaining areas of Czechoslovakia on 15th Mar 1939. The following day the region was officially renamed the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. The area remained under German control until the arrival of Soviet troops on 9th May 1945.
Existing Czechoslovakian stamps were still valid for use up until 15th Dec 1939 but were no longer sold at post offices from 30th Nov 1939. Postage Due stamps remained valid for use up until Jan 1940. Therefore mixed franked mail with Czechosolvakian and Protectorate stamps are possible from 13th Apr until 15th Dec 1939 and with Postage Due stamps up until Jan 1940.
